Our history

A heritage

Maybe the Big Boss Festival brings back memories, maybe you've never heard of it, it doesn't matter.

The Big Boss Festival began on a farm meadow in Tavannes with two regional groups – Petrolette and F.A.C – and a small audience in 1999. Since the mid-2000s, it has welcomed more than four thousand people each year and counting over ten international groups spread over two stages. Its last and 10th edition took place in 2008.

A solid legacy for us, the Back’UP Festival team.

A first edition

In 2021 a team was formed with the aim of relaunching a festival building on this heritage. It was in June 2022 that the latter took place for the first time. It brought together around six hundred people of all generations on the same meadow on the same farm in Tavannes.

The Back’UP Festival welcomed 3 artists for its first edition: Hopen, WorshipNoiz and RDJ. A rich afternoon with a program for children, different stands to discover and plenty to eat and drink.

An association

On March 14, 2023, we created a non-profit association under the name “Back’UP Festival”.

Based on the voluntary commitment of motivated people, the association aims to share the good news of the Gospel through music and at the same time to promote Christian musical groups.

In addition, the vision of the volunteers is generous, it aims to serve the population and the region by bringing together, young and old, believers and non-believers in Tavannes.
